accidents and annivesarys (2005-06-23 - 10:03 a.m.)

Surprise surprise, my husbands drug test came back clean for his new job. DUH! He was set to start on Tuesday the 5th, but due to the manager being off until then, he won't start until the 6th. I had to call him back at woes and tell him that he was going to get a 4 day weekend...this will be the first weekend (holiday) he has had off, in a LONG time. I don't think I heard that man do a whooohooo so loud. They are attempting to see if he will stay on with "woes" but it's just not gonna happen. He's so burnt on the bullshit there. The company he is going to work for does not deal with "do it yourself" customers, it is strictly contractors. Which that alone will reduce the problems. Luckily, "woes" isn't gonna screw him out of his vacation time, like they like to do to oh so many people. So that, along with the monthly bonus for June, and any commissions he makes between now and the last pay period will all be on that last check...it's gonna be a biggie! We are happy about that. The closer he gets to him last day there (5 1/2 day left) the happier he gets. It's like someone is slowly lifting all this weight off his shoulders. It's great to see him smile cause finding a new job isn't on his mind so much anymore. When we looked at the date of him leaving lowes, it's 6 days short of his 4 year anniversary there too. Funny how things work out.

Today is our 4 year wedding anniversary, it's not a ton of years, but it's another year we have been together and going strong. As my husband last night said, we have made it thru a presidential term, and have a higer approval rating then him. (No offense to any Bush supporters, he was just cracking a joke) He decided to work today at 6 so he could get home at a decent hour, and spend the night with me. He said we will pretty much go out as a family tomorrow, and celebrate it as a family. It's adorable, my two older kids all morning have been saying happy anniversary mommy!! It's to cute for words. In the time we have been together we have been through so much, yet through it all we are extremly strong. Noone said life was easy sadly, but it's been all worth it. I look foward to many more years with him. He's a great man, who I have so much respect for. I really am deeply in love with him. He's just wonderful in everyway.

On monday, we were going for a walk. We walked up to a store, where we had to cross a pretty busy street, when we decided to head towards a store we have been wanting to check out called "just ducky" (is that not a great name for a store!!), and go to Thomas Kincade, we were standing in front of Dominicks (grocery store) and we heard this loud THUMP! When Dave looked over, he saw this little car get tossed up a bit (didn't flip) did a 180 and slide backwards into the grass. The 3 guys in the car, were fine thankfully as what happened was not cool...the car caught fire. Semi's usually carry a fire extinguisher, so the guy got out, put out the fire. I had never seen so many cell phones get into use at one time. It was a pretty busy time of the day on the road, it was lunch rush, so it was pretty backed up. They had to divert the traffic thru the shopping center we were in, then on to another street, then back onto the main road again. It was a mess to see. So as we were standing there, waiting to cross and make our way to just ducky, I see this yellow car. It looked kinda funny, so Dave looked at it...it turned out to be a Lamburgini (I'm not sure of the spelling on that) I kinda looked at it, cocked my head to the side, and started to laugh. I looked at Dave and said, "That car is ugly in my opinion. What is the big hype about wanting one? It looks like, in person anyway, you need to be a 3 foot midget to get in it." I choked when I wrote a check for $2700 for a down payment on our car, could you imagine what it would be like to have to pay for a car like that? No car should be worth more than a persons house. But that's just my opinion. So as we were making our way across the street (which was pure hell cause of the diverted traffic from 59) Dave was telling me a story of a kid he went to school with who's mommy and daddy bought him one of those cars...he totalled it! (I would have shit my pants had I been that kids parents and bought him a ford escort in the first place, or better yet, my kids will do what I did, save money and buy your own damn car if you want one so bad.) He told me when he pulled into school a few days later, he was telling everyone how mad he was cause his parents only bought him a PORCHE! I just laughed so hard, I think I had tears in my eyes. Give me a break. It's sad you have to have the bigger or more expensive car for status. I'm just happy as hell my car is paid off, I have no car payment to impress anyone.

Eventually yea, I'm gonna have to get a minivan, my kids are growing and our car just isnt big enough, but at least I can get from here to wal mart in one peice. We do like to drive when we go places...sadly our trip to Minnesota may not happen this summer, but it will next when my husband gets his week vacation. Or we could take a long weekend, which is now POSSIBLE!!!! We also wanted to go to Missouri, and the likely hood of getting her up here is slim to none, she hates long car rides....maybe her hubby could knock her ass out and she wouldn't know she was taking a 6 hour drive!! We wanted to go to Minnesota for dave and the kids to see where I grew up...they ask an awful lot what it's like there and what I did. So we planned on a trip up to the tiny town of Mora, and hit up the Mall Of America, where I burned a ton of time, show them my tiny little school, and of course see my Jenny. I would hate to have to put it on hold, but I'm willing to say oh well, just becuase Dave is starting that new job.

There is a lot I have to do today, I need to get moving as soon as I get off of here. I told one of my neighbors that I would put pics of my friends modular home on disk and bring it to her, she is planning on getting some land about a half hour from here and putting one in. I told her how nice Kelly's was and she really would love to see pictures of it. So after I cleared it with her, I need to do that today.
I'm trying to update more often, but with everything we have been doing lately, I just haven't had the time. We have going for tons of walks, (resulting in really bad sunburns on my part and wonderful weight loss!!!), trying to make the yard pretty, and your typical house cleaning chores. We will be deciding on a floor here with in a couple weeks, and stashing the money, we want to put it in by the end of the summer, early fall the latest. Anyway, that's it for now, I need to get some stuff done. Until later.
